is Netflix's newest original series. Initially developed by Starz, this $90 million (!) period drama follows the Venetian merchant traveller's early years during the 13th century in the court of Kublai Khan, the founder of the Yuan dynasty in Mongolia and China and grandson of Genghis Khan (thanks, Wikipedia!).
Upon arrival through the Silk Road, Marco (Lorenzo Richelmy) becomes a prisoner of Khan. Things work a little differently in the Far East, culturally and politically. As the first season progresses, Marco becomes a trusted advisor of the emperor but in this world of (sometimes literal) backstabbing, power grabs, betrayal and sex, nobody can really be trusted. Our boy Marco wants to be Emperor of the World and as he becomes astute in China politics, he's sure to leave a trail of blood in his quest for power.
The only thing rivalling the blood on this show is the nudity. The Yuan dynasty was apparently chock of sex slaves, threesomes, lesbians and tons of lovely, fully nude beauties. Many of the actresses are making their naked debuts in this, beginning with Canadian . The Edmonton native has appeared in eps of Supernatural, Psych, Arrow, Eureka and The Flash. Well Eureka! Cheng "flashes" her completely naked body during an awesome fight scene as she does some cool martial arts and slices and dices three soldiers with a sword. Armor is for pussies. Or in this case not, I guess. Let's see Uma Thurman do that!
The 10 episode season features the nude debuts of sexy Malaysian , Singaporean , Thailand-born and lots of uncredited extras, most of whom go totally in the buff during a scene where a group of girls go through a selection process.
Cheng and Leifennie have a naked threesome with some schlob in an ep and Esther takes it all off before stabbing herself in the stomach (!) in another. I'm barely scraping the surface on the nakedness in this show, people!
